Jane Van Buren Infinity in the Unconscious and its theoretical and clinical relevance. Join us in a Dinner/Seminar on January 9, 2004 to honor Dr. Jane Van Buren for her discussion “Infinity in the Unconscious and its Theoretical and Clinical Relevance”. The recent explorations of the neurobiology of the infant and infant's studies have given us a radical perspective on the neonatal and early post natal infant capacities. Recent psychoanalytic theorists have focused on prenatal mental life confirming the readiness to attach and to mobilize preconceptions in utero. The infant's journey and (the patient's) from the netherworld experiences of infinity to those within the domain of time and space (the third dimension) bring him or her to the possibility of symbols and signs and the onset of language. This seminar with explore this journey from infinity to the third dimensions and the impossibility of these changes by aspects of the subject’s mind/brain that are deficient leading to personality disorders. The main points in this seminar are defined within psychoanalytic theory and illustrated within clinical practice. These will include Infinity, the Unconscious, Third Dimensional Mental Processing, and the Functioning of the Personality. Contact: John S. Stone, Ph. D.
